Why is it so hard to make a decision easily?

Because all actions have consequences, and the consequences depend on the actions.

I'll give you an example: let's say you are going to a party of the year. You have the choice of driving your own car or catching a ride with a friend. You obviously decide to catch the ride so you can save money on gas.
Turns out your friend is a horrible driver, listens to bad music, won't listen to your directions, and ends up getting to the place 1 hr before the party is over.
Driving your car seemed like a better idea, right?

Because consequences change drastically depending on your decision, people take a little while to choose wisely even on the obvious choices. It's the best way to avoid regretting things.

Consider what you think justice requires, and decide accordingly.  But never give your reasons; for your judgment will probably be right, but your reasons will certainly be wrong.  ~Lord Mansfield
